Get to know your rental car

Before you start driving, take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the car's equipment. See how the heating and air conditioning, radio, seat belts, door locks, headlights and windshield wipers work. Also check where the spare tyre and fuel tank access are. It can be dangerous getting distracted trying to figure out these things while driving. Don't wait for the fuel warning light to come on to refuel, especially if you don't know the distance to the next fuel station. If an emergency light comes on on the control panel unexpectedly, do not ignore it. Use common sense as to whether you can safely return to our location.
