As the home to millions, Istanbul is one of the largest metropolitan cities in the world. Parallel to that, the city is famous for its traffic volume, although they are currently trying to strengthen and update the public transportation to largely decrease the traffic volume. For example, Istanbulites mostly use the metrobus lines to commute around the city, whether for work or leisure. Furthermore, the metrobus lines are also very useful for changing continents; they are complimented with new commute solutions like bridges and new routes. It can take about 60 minutes to reach Taksim with a Sixt car you will pick-up from our Sabiha Gökçen Airport branch. One of the easiest routes is to take the 15 July Martyrs Bridge. You may find yourself in a traffic jam on this route during rush hours. You will find the routes to be less crowded during the day. An updated GPS can help you see Istanbul traffic map and easily calculate the shortest and most ideal route for your destination. It may also take about an hour to arrive at Eminönü, one of the most crowded districts in Istanbul, with a Sixt car you will pick-up at our Airport Mall branch. Even though the overall routes look empty, there is a great chance you will see short-lasting traffic jams. You can use a GPS to quickly calculate an alternate route. If you pick-up a car at our Etiler branch, it will take about 20 minutes on calm hours to arrive at Taksim Square. There are three main bridges in Istanbul, which are all equally significant for your commute around the city. 15 July Martyrs Bridge (formerly known as the Bosporus Bridge), Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge are extremely important with their role of connecting the two continents.

The Maiden Tower can be your next stop. Located in Üsküdar, the Maiden Tower is Üsküdar’s and even Istanbul’s most important symbol. It is only a short drive from Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Üsküdar to see this magnificent structure. You can even take a boat to the Maiden Tower to see the interior. Dolmabahçe Palace, Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, Gülhane Park, and the Blue Mosque are also important spots in the town’s touristic texture. Known as the Historical Peninsula, tours in Suriçi district (Walled City) will enable you to see all prominent spots.
